Owners of the Galaxy Note will soon have a taste of Android 4.1 on their device, as the Jelly Bean dump for the original phablet has made its way online.
Do note that this is most likely an early build of Jelly Bean, and as such it isn’t meant to be flashed to your Galaxy Note – especially by casual users. While it contains most things you expect to get from Jelly Bean (butter included), as well as extra motion gestures, and other new features from its Galaxy S3 cousin (no multi-window support, apparently), the kernel isn’t 100% safe, and there are several things missing from the system.
Fortunately, some great progress has been made, and it’s only be a matter of days — even hours — before a flashable zip file for the Jelly Bean ROM surfaces.
We don’t think it’s a coincidence that the leaked dump appears a couple of days after Samsung Sweden confirmed that the Android 4.1 update for the Galaxy Note will come in Q4. With only two months left in the calendar, your wait for the official software upgrade to Jelly Bean will soon be over.
For those who don’t mind venturing into unofficial territory, we’ll update you once a safe, stable Jelly Bean ROM prepared by the talented minds at XDA-developers is out.
