Sony clearly thinks that there’s not enough entry-level Xperia smartphones in the market today, which explains why the Japanese manufacturer recently introduced the Xperia E and Xperia E Dual.
Packing marginally better specs than their closest predecessors, the pricing details for the two budget phones have been revealed by Sony Mobile Germany.
As expected, Sony will be selling the Xperia E for €159 or $205, while the dual-SIM version of the phone, the Xperia E Dual, will be offered for €169 ($218).
If you’re wondering how the Xperia E differs from the Xperia Tipo – or the Xperia E Dual from the Tipo Dual – we have two words for you: Jelly Bean. The two Tipos aren’t expected to see Android 4.1 in their lifetime, whereas the Xperia E and Xperia E Dual will ship with Jelly Bean outright.
Other improved innards include the use of a 1GHz MSM7227A processor and a 3.5-inch display. The internal storage has been bumped up to 4GB, though the phones still pack the same 512MB of RAM and 3.2MP main camera. The Xperia E and the Xperia E Dual will be released in Q1 2013.
