Verizon has recently started to sell its own Galaxy Note 2 version, complete with that annoying Verizon-branded Home button that’s likely responsible for the phablet’s launch.
With that in mind, we’re not really surprised to hear that the bootloader of the Verizon Galaxy Note 2 has been unlocked, but we’re not looking at very good news yet either, as it looks like this is still a work in progress.
Developer Adam Outler managed to unlock the bootloader of his Galaxy Note 2, but the method is not yet public, as further testing is required to make the procedure safe for everyone. Outler shared his progress on Google+, and it’s likely that once testing is done he will share the necessary steps for anyone out there, especially developers that purchased the Verizon Galaxy Note 2, to unlock the handset’s bootloader.
While we wait, Phandroid reports that the “exploits used might require a mod chip,” which means that not everyone will be able to unlock the bootloader of the Galaxy Note 2 just yet. However, the battle with this Verizon Android device is not lost as Outler is still looking for a simpler method that could be used by the public at large to perform the procedure.
