The MacBook Pro “highest resolution” tagline, that Apple has been using on its dedicated section of the site, seems to have been retired, and Chromebook Pixel is the culprit.
As 9to5Mac has noticed, Apple has changed the tagline on said website to “Higher performance has never been so well-defined” – the previous one was “The highest-resolution notebook ever. And the second highest”. It was, of course, defining the 15 and 13-inch Macbook Pro models, with resolutions of 2880 x 1800 and 2560 x 1600 pixels, respectively.
And while the 15-inch version still has the largest resolution around, the 13-inch model is no longer second in terms of resolution, because the Chromebook Pixel (first brought to the world’s attention by new Google employee Francois Beaufort) has a resolution of 2560 x 1700 pixels. So Apple has finally covered its bases, and it now says that the 13-inch model is “just as impressive”. The previous description called it “the only thing that even comes close”.
