After a few attempts at cracking the tablet market that could only be described as quirky and eccentric, Sony seems ready to hit its first home run with the Xperia Tablet Z. This big guy is destined for greatness, breathing elegance, style and state of the art performance through all its pores.

But we all know there’s something else that can make or break an Android tab nowadays – pricing. And we have to admit things aren’t looking great for the Tab Z from this standpoint in the only country the 10-incher is available, which is Japan.
Europe is apparently the next stop in the slate’s road to glory, with UK confirmed to get it come April 12 for £399 and up. Meanwhile, the folks over at XperiaBlog have dug up listings all around the old continent, finding what they claim to be official prices in no less than 12 other countries.
The 16 GB, Wi-Fi only version will thus go for €499 in Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal and Spain. Switzerland will get it the cheapest, at CHF 549 or €449. The tab will cost €519.99 in Finland and around €530 in Denmark, Norway and Sweden (DKK 3,999, NOK 3,999 and SEK 4,499).

The breakdown is similar for the 32 GB Wi-Fi model, which will sell for €549 across Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal and Spain, a lower CHF 599 (€490) in Switzerland and a higher €590 in Finland, €610 (or NOK 4,599) in Norway, €617 (DKK 4,599) in Denmark and €618 (SEK 5,199) in Sweden.
Finally, the cheapest LTE-enabled Xperia Tablet Z with 16 GB of memory will be available in Switzerland (CHF 679, or €555), while the most expensive will be the Norwegian (€663), Finnish, Denmark (both at €670), Italian (€699) and Swedish versions (€713).
In between, we have Belgium, France and Netherlands, where the 4G Tab Z will be €629, Germany (€638.99), Portugal and Spain (both €649). We don’t have any exact release dates at this time, but the most likely ETA is mid-April across the board.
All things considered, has Sony hit the sweet pricing spot or will the Xperia Tablet Z need a little shaving to become the hit it is destined to be?
