With Galaxy S3’s Android 4.1 bump almost fully completed around the world, one would think it’s time for Samsung to start taking care of its more modest Galaxy “stars” too.
But besides the predictable upgrades for the GS2 and first-gen Note, Sammy is prepping quite an unexpected treat for owners of the… Galaxy Stellar. True, the Stellar is a relatively new device, making its absolute debut in August 2012, but it never stood out from the mid-range crowd.
The thing packs a dual-core 1.2 GHz processor, 1 GB of RAM, 4 GB of internal memory, a 3 MP rear-facing camera and a 4-inch 480 x 800 pixels resolution panel, which is anything but a dreamy configuration.

And yet Samsung and Verizon seem to hold the (few, we’re guessing) phone’s owners in the highest regard. Big Red has posted the official Jelly Bean updating docs on the carrier’s website, which means the OTA bump should come any minute. Nicely done!
The changelog is as massive as we’ve come to expect, bringing the already traditional JB goodies to the table – like Google Now and Project Butter – as well as a few “additional device enhancements” – improved call clarity, bug fixes, a couple of added apps and a few removed ones.
The package will weigh a hefty 403.6 MB, which will take up to 40 minutes to download and install. Make sure therefore that you’re connected to Wi-Fi, that your battery is fully charged and you have enough storage space to go around. Oh, yeah, and be patient if the update is not yet live. At the worst, you’ll be stuck to ICS for a couple more days.
