The new Asus MeMo Pad HD 7 has just been unveiled by company chairman Jonney Shih at the company's Computex 2013 event.
The specs the new tablet offers are almost guaranteed to make it a success, considering its price. The specs confirm what has been previously known about the Nexus 7 competitor, while the price for the 16GB version is $149, just like the one of its predecessor. An 8GB version costs $129, with Asus stating that the product is aimed at developing markets.
The screen of the MeMo Pad HD 7 has received quite the improvement, moving from a resolution of 1024 x 600 to 1280 x 800 pixels. The new version also comes with more processing power, as it has a quad-core Cortex A7 CPU. Also in the mix are a 5 and a 1.2 megapixel cameras, as well as Asus' proprietary Sonic Master audio technology.
The tablet runs Android 4.2, and, although it's aimed at developing markets, we expect it to do well worldwide – currently it's pretty hard to get a similar product at this price.
More details about the availability are expected.
