The official unveiling of the Asus PadFone 2 has put us in a celebratory mood here. And there’s more reason for you to share our excitement. If details of the hybrid device’s expected global release and pricing were still missing earlier, we’re now ready to fill in the blanks.
While the PadFone 2 and its tablet add-on are expected to hit retail stores in its home country this week, it’s going to take a while for the device to travel to other regions, but it won’t be as long of a wait like the original one.
For our European readers, Asus has announced that the PadFone 2 will be coming before the end of the year to Bulgaria, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain and Sweden. And as for our friends of the Asian origin, specifically those in Hong Kong, India, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and UAE, expect the PadFone 2 to greet you before the end of December as well.
Unfortunately, the U.S. launch date for the multi-purpose device hasn’t been mentioned. Asus promises that the release date for the U.S. market and other countries will be announced “at a later date”.
According to Engadget, the bundled 32GB model (PadFone 2 plus the PadFone Station) will go for €799 (or roughly $1,040) in Europe, while the bundled 64GB model will be priced at €799 ($1,170). Does this sound like a good price for the combo?
