The HTC M7 has been first rumored a few weeks back, but, if leaks keep coming at this pace, we will soon know everything there is to know about it.
HTC’s upcoming Android flagship device is supposed to debut at the Mobile World Congress in February 2013, marking HTC’s latest attempt to turn around its fading fortunes. Codenamed M7, the device will be purportedly made available as soon as March, in an attempt to gain a market foothold before the Galaxy S4 lands with its predictable hype storm.
Now, evleaks, a source that has proven reliable in the past when it comes to HTC scoops, has revealed the supposed specifications of the HTC M7.
First, the M7 will supposedly sport a 4.7-inch screen that is full HD (1980 x 1080 resolution). The M7 wouldn’t be the first device to feature a full HD display (the honor goes to another HTC phone, the J Butterfly/Droid DNA/Butterfly), but the fact that panel is 4.7-inch across would make it the phone with the highest density display ever. At 468ppi, the pixel density of the M7’s display would be 40% higher than the much-touted Retina display of the iPhone 5. It would also be slightly higher than the current crop of 5-inch full HD devices, which all boast about 440ppi.
According to evleaks, the display of the M7 should bring another industry first – the use of a SoLux display, which is superior to the Super LCD2 panel found on the One X/X+.
In terms of processing power, the M7 should be powered by a Snapdragon S4 Pro chip, clocked at 1.7GHz, along with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage.
HTC will supposedly adopt a 13MP sensor for the M7, with an f/2.0 lens, dubbed CineSensor. The report says that the phone will be able of HDR video and super slow-motion recording, which reminds us of the recently launched Oppo Find 5. Just like it did with the One X, HTC will promote the sound experience as a main user benefit, so expect Beats Audio and stereo speakers.
One other highlight is the presence of 802.11ac wireless, which is faster than the current 802.11n standard found on most phones. The battery will be a 2300mAh model.
The M7 will supposedly be available in the US from Sprint and Verizon, but there is a chance that it will be sold by all four major carriers in the States.
What do you make of the HTC M7? Are these specs enough to sway buyers away from Samsung?
