Been waiting for the arrival of Huawei’s monster-sized smartphone, the Ascend Mate? After keeping everyone in suspense for months, Huawei has finally confirmed today that the 6.1-inch Mate will hit stores in China on March 21.
According to the announcement, the Ascend Mate will be offered for 3,120 Yuan or about $500, cheaper than previously rumored.
Although there’s no word yet on when the Ascend Mate will be made available in other markets, an unofficial source has spilled the beans that the phone might only head to Europe in the middle of the year. So it looks like you have plenty of time to deliberate.
In case you’ve forgotten, alongside its 6.1-inch HD IPS+ display, the Mate comes with a quad-core 1.5GHz K3V2 processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB internal storage, a microSD slot (up to 32GB), 8MP rear camera, 1MP front cam, 4,050mAh battery, and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
As for how much it’ll cost in Europe, one retailer in Germany has listed the phone’s price at €599 last week, but a newer listing on Amazon Germany suggests that it’ll be selling for €499 instead. You don’t have to tell us which one you prefer out of the two.
