You can’t be a famous rapper without showing off your “bling”, “swag”, “pimp mobiles”, or “bread” in public anytime you get the chance, can you? But when jewelry, clothes, cars and money are not enough to illustrate exactly what kind of rich and successful son of a… gun are you, what’s there left to do?
If we are to take Soulja Boy’s example, when cars and jewelry ain’t enough, Android is the way to go. More exactly, you get an obscure tablet manufacturer to accept a “partnership” and launch two new products with your name and face slapped on their backs. That way, you can be (or at least think of yourself) as cooler than cool, and the company can get out of anonymity, be it for a short while and not for a very flattering reason. Win-win situation, isn’t it?
Tokova is the name of the respective obscure manufacturer, and the two devices that have gotten special Soulja Boy editions are two tablets called “Tiger Shark” and “Great White”. Both slates are up for sale over at Tokova’s official website, and, aside for the special branding, they come with very intriguing spec sheets.
Tiger Shark is a 7-incher with an IPS 1024 x 600 pix res panel, and what’s under the hood makes it one fine piece of Android technology. The tab is powered by a dual-core 1.2 GHz processor and features 1 GB of DDR2 RAM, as well as 64 GB (!) of on-board memory.
Running Android 4.0 ICS out of the box, the Tiger Shark also comes with a pretty hefty 4,500 mAh battery, dual cameras, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n connectivity, HDMI and Bluetooth. Weighing in at 12 ounces, the 7-incher only measures 0.4 inches in thickness, being one of the sleekest such tablets around. Unfortunately, there is one catch if you think about getting the tablet – its price. The Togova Tiger Shark goes for $399.99, which isn’t a lot given its specs, but is for its name.
The Great White is even more “ferocious” and comes with a 9.5-inch IPS display with 1024 x 768 pixels resolution, a quad-core 1.5 GHz processor, 2 GB of RAM, 64 GB of internal memory, a 6,000 mAh battery, WiFi, Bluetooth, HDMI, and the running of Android 4.0 ICS. With a 20 ounce weight and a 3.4 inch thickness, the Great White is much bulkier than the Tiger Shark, but it still looks like a pretty elegant tab. Unfortunately, this is also a bit on the expensive side, going for $499.99.
I personally wouldn’t throw my money out the window for a tablet that comes from an “unverified” name in the business, but I guess you wouldn’t be a Soulja Boy fan if you wouldn’t dig spending dough on things that can make you look “phat”. Anyone thinking of getting a Soulja Boy-branded Tiger Shark or Great White? How about the unbranded versions?
