Motorola’s had a pretty awful track record with software updates, but with Google now owning the company, it was only a matter of time until the Razr makers got all their ducks in a row. Unfortunately, even the latest Moto high-end phones have come out with Android 4.0 ICS, which wasn’t a big reason for pride.

There have been promises of Jelly Bean upgrades for the Droid Razr HD and Maxx HD to happen “by the end of the year” from the get-go, but we know better than to rely on words. Or do we?
We haven’t heard anything from Motorola and Verizon yet on the updates, but a Jelly Bean build has leaked online just hours ago. While the port is clearly listed as an unofficial one, with all the warnings and precautions that come from that, we can’t help but wonder if this isn’t a signal that official testing of JB on the two phones is nearing an end.
The firmware leak is labeled 9.1.39Xt926.verizon.en.us and comes via DirtyDroidX from DroidRzr. The update is said to work on both the Razr HD and its battery pumped sibling, the Maxx HD, although it hasn’t been verified as glitch-free by many users.
That said, be careful with the port, and if you do have the guts to test it and risk voiding your warranty or even bricking your brand new phone, do be so kind to let us know in a comment below how did the upgrading go. Any bugs to report? Or is everything as buttery smooth as one would expect?
