Features, features, and a whole lotta features – that’s what Evernote promises if you don’t dump the service and move to Google Keep. Perhaps, it’s also no accident that an upgrade to version 5.0 for the popular note-taking app has been pushed to Google Play today.
So, what’s new on Evernote 5.0? Aside from a slight redesign, the update introduces a new Page Camera mode, which lets you take pictures of any physical documents and pages and have the app “beautifully digitizes” them. By this it means it can automatically remove shadows and improve the contrast to make them more readable.
The feature apparently works best if you pair it with Moleskin’s Evernote Smart Notebook, though it’s not a necessity to get the pricey notebooks. Meanwhile, the new Multi-shot camera function lets you take several photos and save them into one note. That’s neat.

The updated app also comes with a new shortcut panel, which lets you create um… shortcuts to jump to notes, notebooks, and tags easily. You can access the shortcut page by swiping left from the right edge of the screen. As for premium users, you’ll now get to do a search within attached office documents, spreadsheets, and presentations.
Head to Google Play now to check out the new features yourself. Let us know how you like them in the comments below.
