Still rocking the Motorola Atrix 4G, despite the fact it is has been stuck with Android 2.3 Gingerbread all this time? Your patience might finally be paying off. It seems that ICS could be heading to the Atrix 4G soon.
The news comes from a message that seems to be circulating, asking for select owners of the Motorola Atrix 4G on AT&T to sign up for chance to participate in a soak test for a new software release.
While the announcement doesn’t specifically mention that the new software will include an upgrade to ICS, it certainly makes sense. The only twist in all of this is that Motorola confirmed not too long ago that the Atrix 4G would not get an upgrade Android ICS, but perhaps after further testing they changed their mind.
ICS isn’t exactly the “hottest” release at this point, but for those stuck with Gingerbread, it is still a vast improvement in terms of speed, performance and overall features.
With the Atrix 4G quickly reaching its second birthday, there are probably quite a few users that are about due for an upgrade through their carriers. Still, this update should tide them over until they are officially eligible for a new phone.
