A couple weeks ago we reported that the LG Optimus 2X would not be getting an upgrade to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. That report was based on a tweet made by LG Canada indicating the update had been cancelled despite earlier statements from LG promising an ICS upgrade for the handset. The situation has changed again, this time via a tweet from LG Korea. They indicate work on an ICS upgrade for the Optimus 2X has been conducted and some testing has already been completed.
It seems at this point that the statement from LG Canada may have only been applicable to the Canadian market. The question now is whether the tweet from LG Korea is valid for any other markets outside of Korea. Except for general statements issued in the past about the ICS update being available in Q3, no other details about a release schedule are available.
