MWC is rapidly closing in on us and, with Samsung and HTC nearly confirmed as taking the event quite lightly, we need another “hero” to step in and capture the Barcelona spotlight. Could that someone else be LG?

Based on the company’s crafty recent marketing campaign, we’re inclined to say yes. Even if the first three phones confirmed to be on display in Catalonia, the Optimus L3 II, L5 II and L7 II, are far from special.
And that’s because the latest LG teaser, consisting of a short 45-second YouTube video clip, is even more intriguing than the first two. The focus is on four letters of the alphabet, each symbolizing a new phone or series of phones to debut during MWC, as well as a key feature of the handheld(s).
The L in “Style”, used to hint at the new Optimus L Series, is only the road-opener, followed by F for “Freedom”, V for “View” and G for “greatness”.

The G is no shocker and obviously stands for the new Optimus G Pro, shown off in two versions so far. But what about the V and F? They don’t fit with any recent LG-related rumors, do they?
Not really, but the V puzzle is not as tough to crack as it may seem. That most likely stands for an Optimus Vu 3, or Vu Pro, or Vu Plus or whatever, set to follow in the footsteps of last fall’s Optimus Vu 2. The first-gen Vu was first shown off during last year’s MWC, so it makes sense for a new member of the family to enjoy a similar launch.
Three down, one to go – the F in “freedom”. Now that’s a mystery. LG did tease a new “F-series” upon announcing the company’s financial results for Q4 2012, but honestly we have no idea what that’s about. Freedom could be software-related (or so we hope), meaning phones with unlocked bootloaders maybe? Devices running vanilla Android? Your guess is as good as mine.
One other thing LG is focusing on in this new clip is tags, so we expect most of the new phones to come packing NFC. Did we miss any clue as to what’ll be on display at MWC? Be sure to let us know in the comments section.
