Google Glass Web-based Setup page and MyGlass Android app available now

It’s been Google Glass all day! Following news that the initial batch of Google Glass will be ready to ship very soon to attendees of I/O 2012 who signed up, Google released the Mirror API for developers and officially released the specifications and features of Google Glass. Far from done, a web-based setup page and the MyGlass companion Android app is now live as well.


The web-based setup page is very easy to use. All you need to do is sign in to your Google account, accept the terms and conditions, which include allowing Google to use your location information and the agreement that any photos and videos taken by glass will be automatically uploaded to your Google+ Instant Upload album, add a Wi-Fi network, wear your Google Glass and look at a QR code to sync. In a few seconds, your device will be connected. The MyGlass Android app can be used to setup and configure your device as well, and will allow Glass to access SMS messages and location information from your device.

If you’re a part of the lucky few who will be getting their hands on a Google Glass unit soon, after receiving it, you can head on over to the web-based setup page here, and download the MyGlass app, which is compatible with devices running Android 4.0 or higher, from the Google Play Store here. Of course, for most of us who won’t be getting Google Glass soon, there’s no point downloading the app, but Google has been kind enough to help offset that disappointment by including a picture of a puppy in pajamas.
