There are Android users out there that absolutely want and need the best. Then there are those that really want a quality Android experience, but at a budget price. The LG Optimus Zone unfortunately won’t cater to either of these groups.
The Zone is for those that really want a smartphone and want to pay as little as humanly possible. Unfortunately, you don’t get a dirt cheap phone without some sacrifice. This is certainly true with the LG Optimus Zone, which apparently is tipped to be nothing more than the aging LG Optimus L3 with a new name. We’re talking about the original, not the L3 II, by the way.
For those that aren’t familiar, the L3 is powered by an 800MHz single-core processor, has a 3.2-inch display with a 320 x 240 resolution and a 3.15MP rear camera. According to @evleaks, the Optimus Zone will also run Gingerbread, just like the L3.

The phone is expected to be free with contract, and is also believed to be heading to prepaid, though no word on how much it will cost there. While there is no official word on when it is arriving, the Optimus Zone is believed to be heading to Verizon later this month.
Should anyone actually consider this phone? If you really don’t care about using many apps and basically just want a ‘feature phone’ with a few extra capabilities, the LG Optimus Zone might fit your needs. Still, if you can afford to pluck down just a little more cash, there are plenty of other handsets that will pack more punch for only a little more upfront cost.
