It’s been quite a hectic couple of months for the Android smartphone world with HTC, Samsung and Sony all launching flagship phones. So far, Sony has apparently had great success, with analysts estimating that the Xperia Z has sold 4.6 million units in just 40 days.
Sony has yet to officially announce the number of Xperia Z units it sold so far.
The Japanese electronics giant has been pushing the phone in multiple markets since it was first announced back at CES in January. The Xperia Z has carried on gaining momentum and was released to many of the major mobile markets throughout March. But what has enabled Sony to get the jump on its Android brethren?
Well, its release has come without many of the delays that have hit some of its main competitors. For example, the HTC One was scheduled for a March release, but the Taiwanese firm was forced to delay the launch of the handset. As for Samsung, the Galaxy S4 won’t hit stores until the end of the April. All these factors gave Sony more time to advertise and spread the word about its Xperia Z flagship, without having to face competition from other flagship handsets in stores.
The Xperia Z features a 5-inch Full HD display, 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, microSD support up to 64GB, 13-megapixel camera with Exmor RS lens, LTE, NFC, 2330mAh battery and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
