It was just last week when we began seeing some stable builds of CyanogenMod 10 come available. And while this shouldn’t surprise us all that much, there is already talk of CyanogenMod 10.1 For those not as familiar with CM10 and CM10.1, the former is based off of Android 4.1 and the latter will be based off of Android 4.2.
In other words, CyanogenMod 10.1 will contain the latest features and goodies that came along with the recent release of 4.2. That said, while 4.2 is the most recent and may even be the most desired at the moment — it is far from the most used. And similar to how few Android users are sporting Android 4.2, few users will be sporting CM10.1 for the foreseeable future.
On that note, the crew behind CyanogenMod has recently offered a status update and while things seem to be progressing at an expected speed — they are far from ready for a release. In fact, there was mention of it being “far from complete.” Anyway, keeping in the tradition of not offering anything firm in terms of release dates or timeframes, here is how the CyanogenMod update read;
“Progress is Beautiful
4.2 merger is still a work in progress, but it is going well so far. To give you an idea, the build currently has trebuchet, colored logcat, Terminal, root access, and the enhancements +David van Tonder finished over the weekend; nothing else and far from complete.”
