While we can appreciate the occasional hype-building marketing campaign, Oppo might have gone a bit too far in promoting its next flagship phone, the Find 5. This got leaked for the first time back in August with the promise of being the thinnest quad-core mobile device in the world.
As months passed, we found out even more enticing details about the 5-incher, including its featuring of a 1080p display that was unprecedented at the time. However, the level of excitement soon toned down, due to the launch date being pushed back, but also because of some last minute design tweaks that added bulk to the Find 5’s figure.
Now we finally have an exact release date for the phone, but the fact that we know everything about it and the time that passed from the first leaks and rumors make next month’s unveiling event not that appealing.
And that’s despite Oppo’s clever decisions of scheduling the Beijing launch on 12.12.2012 and advertising the phone with a “fifth element” theme tied up to its name and screen’s diagonal size.
Then again, we can’t go as far as to say we’ve stopped being interested in Oppo’s Find 5 altogether. After all, even with HTC’s Droid DNA official and ready to hit the international stage, the 5-inch full HD display is still something special.
Not to mention the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro CPU that will be powering the Find 5 and that’s become a sort of a standard for super-phones nowadays. Or the 2 GB of RAM paired with the processor, the running of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, and the 12 MP shooter attached to the back. Finally, you can’t brush away the phone’s design either, even at around 9 mm in thickness.
Also, there is one important detail to be revealed on December 12 – pricing – so at least for that we should be keeping an eye on China next month. Will you be tuning in to our website then? Or is Oppo’s Find 5 not that appealing anymore?
