Details about Polaroid’s Android powered camera leaked

Android powered cameras are quite trendy these days, with Samsung and Nikon releasing their respective point and shooters running Google’s mobile platform. Now it seems likely that we will have another major camera market player jump into the Android camera scene. In a recent leak, a Polaroid camera was revealed which is reportedly powered by Android.

The camera we are talking about here is not the same which was revealed by Polaroid in January at CES 2012. This new Android-powered point and shooter will feature interchangeable lenses and will be mirrorless. The camera model in question is currently dubbed as IM1836, produced by Sakar International, and photos as well as specs are available online.
This is not the first time this particular camera has leaked. A press release for the camera appeared on Dealerscope magazine while PhotoRumors first spotted the leaked files on a Russian social networking website.
According to leaked specs, Polaroid’s Android-powered camera will feature an 18.1-megapixel sensor, 3.5-inch touch display, HD video recording, microSD card slot, blink detection feature, panorama mode, pop-up flash, Wi-Fi,  and HDMI output among others. The camera will run Android 4.0 at launch.
Apart from specs and software the Polaroid IM1836 looks very similar to Nikon 1 J2 mirrorless camera. The 30-110mm lens it is offering is also same as the one offered in Nikon 1 Series lineup.

The fact that this Polaroid camera has leaked so much and most of the details that include photos and specifications are available online, it is safe to assume that it will get released soon. CES 2013 isn’t that far away either and chances are that this device might get some official spotlight at the upcoming event. No details about pricing or availability are available at this point in time.
