In “why hasn’t this happened already” news, owners of Verizon’s Motorola Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR Maxx will finally be receiving the upgrade to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean within a month.
Motorola recently revamped its Android software update timeline site, which was earlier just a long table with device listings and expected software rollout schedules. Now, you can sort by region, carrier, and device, to find out when you’re particular device will be getting an upgrade easily, without having to scroll through a long list. You can now also sign up to receive email notifications about when your device will receive a software update.
Along with the site re-design, some update information has been changed. While earlier, we knew that the Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR Maxx would be upgraded to Jelly Bean at some point, we now know that the update for both devices will be arriving in Q1 of 2013, which means that it will be available by the end of March, that is, if Motorola sticks to the schedule it has suggested on the site.
If you own any other Motorola device, you can find out what your update schedule is by heading over to the Android software update page here.
What are your thoughts? Are you excited that you’ll finally be receiving the official update to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean? Have you been waiting for this update, or have you already moved to a custom ROM based on Jelly Bean? Let us know in the comments section below.
