Yesterday, we reported Glass will ship within the next month to developers who shelled out $1,500 at Google I/O last year. Now it’s come to our attention that Google is hiring up to 40 “advisors”
to help people over the phone, or at events, who will soon receive the
next-generation eyewear. This group of individuals will be based in New
York or San Francisco, and travel to Glass-related events.
According to 9to5Google, these advisors will also be working at Google retail stores, which are rumored to pop up by the end of this year. Although Glass will make its way to developers first, the around 8,000 #IfIHadGlass winners will get access sometime later this year.
In the past, Google hasn’t offered the greatest customer
support when it came to its line of Nexus devices. Glass is a totally
different interface and device from what most savvy tech users are
familiar with. Having a dedicated support team, such as these advisors,
will help users make the most of the technology. The more knowledgeable
they are, the better.
With developers especially, it’s crucial they know all the ins-and-outs of Glass. Without them, great applications wouldn’t exist.
