While we’ve known since may that 4G LTE was a possibility for the ASUS Padfone 2, as of Friday, it’s official. The device was just approved by the Global Certification Forum (GCF), and it is now known for certain that the ASUS Padfone 2 will be LTE-compatible.
The LTE connectivity shown in the certification is only on bands utilized in Europe, Asia and Latin America. Still, it’s very likely that a version released in the U.S. would have LTE as well.
Last month the specs for the ASUS Padfone 2 were leaked, showing off a 1.5 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset, 2 GB of RAM, 13-megapixel rear camera and a 4.7-inch Super IPS+ HD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720. Other features include a 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera, a 2,149 mAh battery and Bluetooth 4.0
As with the original ASUS Padfone, the Padfone 2 will be comprised of the phone itself and a tablet dock. With ASUS currently being one of the the main go-to companies for devices that turn into other devices, we’re looking forward to seeing what the finalized ASUS Padfone 2 looks like when it is unveiled.
While we’re continuing to find out more and more about the Padfone 2, to see all the details, we’re going to have to wait until the official unveiling of the phone on October 16.
