Mere days before the possible unveiling of the HTC M7, new information about HTC’s upcoming flagship smartphone has surfaced, this time detailing the design of the device, the new User Interface, and its availability.
The scoop comes courtesy of HTC Source, which received some tips from an insider on what the world can expect to see when the HTC M7 makes it CES 2013 debut. Let’s get to the juicy bits.
Design-wise, the source said that the M7 will bear a resemblance to the Droid DNA, though with none of the red accent. We’re looking at a completely black shell – made from the same material as the DNA — with “a very nice looking beveled edge” along the display of the phone. While past rumor indicates that the M7 will feature on screen buttons, that isn’t likely to be the case.
As for its specs, there’s nothing that we haven’t already known or guessed. The HTC M7 will sport a 4.7-inch HD display (468 ppi), a quad-core 1.7GHz Snapdragon Pro CPU, 2GB of RAM, 32GB internal storage, 13MP main camera, 2MP front-facing cam, and a 2,300mAh battery. There’s no microSD slot, unfortunately.
The test device runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, but it might get upgraded to Android 4.2 before it hits the market. The M7 will have the latest iteration of Sense UI on board, possibly dubbed as Sense 5.0, with a more “simple and clean” look. Meanwhile, HTC’s home-brewed apps will also get a design makeover.
