HTC sends out a tweet to remind us that their big day is just one week away

The image you’re looking at above was just posted on HTC’s official Twitter account. For our American audience, 19.2.13 means February 19th. That’s the day HTC plans to hold two events, one in New York City, the other in London, to announce their latest flagship phone. Said device has long been known by its codename, M7, but during the past few days we’ve seen several pieces of evidence that suggest the retail name will simply be “HTC One”.

What do we know about the One so far? We have a press shot thanks to @evleaks, the anonymous Twitter user with an excellent track record in the rumor department. We also have a rough idea of the spec sheet: 4.7 inch 1080p display, quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro, 2 GB of RAM, and a 13 megapixel camera. HTC is also going to introduce a brand new version of Sense, dubbed Sense 5, that should be far more pleasing to the eye than anything the company has previously done in the past.
Should you be excited? Absolutely, but we’d like to remind you of what’s going to happen during the next few weeks and months. Just one week after HTC’s event, the world’s largest mobile conference will take place: Mobile World Congress. You’re going to see a ton of new hardware there. Two weeks after MWC, Samsung is rumored to be hosting an event of their own to announce the Galaxy S4. A few weeks after that, in April, both the HTC One and the GS4 will be on store shelves. Then comes May, the month when Google hosts I/O and they’ll likely show off Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie.
We feel that you should know about all these things before throwing done a serious amount of money on a brand new phone. There’s nothing worse than buying something and then feeling regret just a month or two later because you didn’t wait.
