It’s been less than two weeks since EE expanded its LTE coverage to 45% of the UK population and 24 hours since hearing about the next rollout planned for the summer. And yet the good news keep piling on for British smartphone users looking for cutting edge download and upload speeds.
Only this time we don’t have EE under the spotlight, but one of its competitors. Three, the current number four (no pun intended) carrier in GB, finally has the “Ultrafast” Samsung Galaxy S3 up for grabs. Sneaky branding aside, what that means is you’ll be able to buy the highest recommended smartphone in Great Britain and use it at its absolute fullest while browsing. Soon, that is, because the carrier’s 4G LTE network is not quite ready at the moment.
Besides the added LTE speeds, there’s no real difference between the “ultrafast” GS3 and other versions of the phone available in the UK. That means you’ll still get that splendid 4.8-inch Super AMOLED panel with 1,280 x 720 pixels resolution, the explosive 1.4 GHz quad-core Exynos CPU, 16 GB of internal memory, microSD support, an 8 MP camera and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
Both the pebble blue and marble white versions are sold by Three UK and you can get either one on contract or SIM-free. The former will have you shell out £29 upfront and £34 or £36 each month for two years, while the latter will require the coughing up of £449.99 and the choice of a £10 or £15 add-on.
Not exactly affordable, but the LTE-ready Samsung Galaxy S3 is most definitely worth the dough. Even if you won’t technically be able to achieve 4G speeds just yet. Am I right or am I right?
