Google+ app adds photo editing, better communities control and more

Google+ announced a major update to its mobile app today, bringing several new features that users are sure to love.
Back in September 2012, Google acquired Nik Software, the company behind Snapseed, a photo editing app. Now, those photo editing features have been added to the Google+ app, enabling users to edit photos with cropping, rotation, adjusting saturation, contrast, brightness, or even choosing from multiple filters.
In the Android app update, Google has also made viewing your stream even better. Here are the changes:

• Posts include more text up front—from the original message, and from comments
• Tapping video, photo or link attachments takes you directly to a watch page, lightbox or website
• Image previews are rarely cropped, so you’ll see portrait photos (for instance) in all their glory
• Key actions like +1, reshare and comment are displayed more prominently in each post
• You can swipe through photo albums inline

Similar to how Twitter can automatically update your location on your profile, Google+ now has the same ability. You can display your current location with only specific circles or make it public depending on what you’re comfortable with. To turn location sharing on, simply navigate to Google+ settings on desktop or your phone and turn on “Location Sharing”.

In January, the app received communities support and now there are even more features. You can adjust the volume of community posts in the stream, invite people to a community, reshare posts with a community, search for members, moderate content, and report, remove, or ban people if you’re the owner of a community.
