After a story claimed that an LG “Megalodon” prototype smartphone is in the cards for becoming the Nexus 5, a new report today debunks that LG Nexus 5 rumor, bringing other unconfirmed Nexus details to the table.
According to a Phone Arena tipster, the next Nexus won’t offer the kind of too-good-to-be-true specs and features mentioned by the earlier report. Instead, Google will stick to this year’s “standard” features for flagship devices, including a 5-inch display with 1080p resolution, Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, 2GB of RAM, 8/16GB of storage, 3140 mAh battery and Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie.
One of the key selling points of the device will apparently be the camera, which may come with Nikon branding. The camera will feature a “triple camera sensor thing” and the testing module is said to be “better than anything else.” However, not many details about this particular component are known.
We will remind you that not too long ago, Google’s Vic Gundotra revealed on Google+, out of nowhere, that Google is “committed to making Nexus phones insanely great cameras.” That particular Google+ discussion fits very well with today’s rumor, although we will stress that nothing can be confirmed at this time.
Who will make the Nexus 5? That’s still to be determined, but the publication points out the specified battery for this handset is awfully similar to the one found on the LG Optimus G Pro, a device that was just recently made official – and yes, a 5-inch Optimus G Pro is available in Japan.
The tipster did not reveal launch details for the product, so we’ll have to wait for more rumors to hit the web about this future Nexus 5.
On a different note, the same report says that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 flagship processor could be used in a “Nexus 10.2″ tablet later this year, although other details on this potential second-gen 10-inch Nexus tablet are not given.
