Google Glass is starting to make sense. Having been shrouded in secrecy and non-disclosure agreements, what we’ve been able to find out about Glass is often a glancing blow to the larger issue. With the YouTube video we shared with you earlier today, and now this official one from Project Glass, we’re beginning to see the bigger picture.
A very simple “getting started” video shows us some very cool, but very detailed ways in which Glass works. The basic user interface is also starting to take shape, in what’s called “timeline”. With timeline, your necessary, current info is kept to the left of the start screen, and things like pictures and video to the left. Almost like a fork in the road, you can go left to see what’s going on now and in the near future… or right to reminisce and share.
We are also getting a much clearer idea of how the touchpad will work, and just how we need to interact with the device through touch. What wasn’t covered is voice commands, but those are much more in-depth and probably require a much longer video.
It’s an exciting time for Glass, and we eagerly await what’s next. My only criticism is starting the video with “Welcome to Glass” is just teasing us all.
