Thought to only be a China-exclusive phone back in June, Motorola’s Razr V has spread its tentacles relatively fast outside Asia. Although it hasn’t yet hit the United States (and might never do so), the Razr V will be available to quite a lot of tech users in only a matter of hours.
Bell Canada is expected to put the sexy mid-ranger up for sale tomorrow, on August 3, and now Optus Australia has announced the phone as coming on the same day. The carrier’s announcement took us by surprise earlier today, but it’s surely nice to see someone walk the walk and not only talk the talk.
The Australian Razr V will be available both on Optus’ official website and in brick and mortar stores across Australia. You’ll be able to get the phone for free on a two-year contract, with the cheapest plan costing $35 a month and an additional $4 monthly handset repayment. That’ll make the total cost of the phone over the 24-month period of your contract reach almost $950, which is not very much, considering the competition.
As difficult as it might be to believe, the Razr V will only be the second Motorola phone to hit Australia this year, following the modestly equipped Defy Mini. A lot might be at stake for Moto with this launch, especially if the Atrix HD LTE won’t come to Australia soon.
Optus already has the Razr V listed on its official website, but you can’t pre-order the handheld just yet. That should change in only a few hours, so keep your eyes peeled, and in the meantime, browse through the phone’s full spec sheet below:
