ZTE Warp Sequent leaked, to hit Boost Mobile as a more modest version of the ZTE Grand X IN

We’ve been waiting for Intel to break into the high-end Android universe for a while, but the world’s largest chip maker still doesn’t seem comfortable enough to make the push. All Intel-based phones unveiled until now are mid-rangers at best, lacking that wow factor we see in devices like Samsung’s Galaxy S3 or HTC’s One X.

Intel has also chosen to work with tech manufacturers that aren’t exactly in the spotlight in the West, with the only exception being Lenovo so far. We’ve been hearing about a more courageously-equipped Intel-based handheld from Motorola, but until seeing that revealed we’ve just been treated with the ZTE Grand X IN, another budget-friendly mid-ranger.
The Grand X IN is supposed to hit Europe any day now, while rumors say that the 4.3-incher will never see the light of day in the USA. However, a fresh new leak claims that the phone will in fact come to the States, albeit in a slightly tweaked form.
The ZTE Warp Sequent is the name of this rehashed device, and, according to an @evleaks tweet, it will be made available by Boost Mobile on September 17. This is an unconfirmed rumor, so it should be treated as such, even though it comes from an almost rock-solid source, which has revealed the first pictures of the Nokia Lumia 820 and 920 in the past, but also the second pic of the AT&T-bound LG Escape more recently.
As usual, @evleaks supplies us with a nice-looking photo of the leaked device, but also with some spec highlights. The “Warp Sequent” picture looks very similar to the Grand X IN, with a couple of noteworthy exceptions.

First off, there are three capacitive buttons instead of the X IN’s four. The front-facing camera is placed differently and the chassis looks slightly better to us, while the rounded edges appear just a tad smoother. Finally, the new phone seems a bit larger than the X IN, although @evleaks is claiming both devices will sport 4.3-inch displays.
As far as specs and features go, the ZTE Warp Sequent (pretty horrible name, right?) will certainly not be an upgrade over the Grand X IN. On the contrary in fact, because it will feature a 1.4GHz CPU and a 5MP camera, unlike the X IN, which is equipped with a 1.6GHz Intel Atom Z2460 processor and an 8MP rear-facing shooter. The display will most likely be exactly the same, with an identical 960 x 540 pixels resolution.
It’s not all bad news though, because it seems that the Warp Sequent will drop ZTE’s custom overlay and run stock Android 4.0 ICS. Not to mention Boost’s future 4.3-incher could be made available for just $200 with the carrier’s prepaid plans, which sounds like a more than decent deal to us.
Before hearing something official from ZTE, Intel or Boost we should take the info about the Warp Sequent with caution, as we’ve seen plenty of rock-solid rumors being shattered to pieces in the past. If it were to turn into reality though, would the 4.3-incher interest you? Why? Why not?
