Just yesterday we saw Three UK confirm the availability of Jelly Bean for the Samsung Galaxy S3. And well, that news seems to have left plenty of questions regarding the update on other carriers. On that note, we have a bit of news. But it does come with a catch.
Samsung has issued a statement regarding the Jelly Bean update for the Galaxy S3 in the UK. In short, Samsung has confirmed that the update process has begun for the UK market. Something we already knew. The catch is that while the update process has officially begun, it is still based on the individual carriers. The Samsung statement reads as follows;
“Samsung UK can confirm that the rollout of Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) has begun for our Galaxy S III customers and will be available across all networks over the coming weeks, pending software testing and approvals,”So there you have it, with the key words being ‘pending software testing and approvals.’ Bottom line here, while it is nice to have gotten this bit of confirmation, it still does not change the fact that those who happen to be rocking a Galaxy S3 with a carrier other than Three still have some waiting to do.
