When’s a Galaxy Nexus not really a Nexus? When carriers meddle in and make it hard for Google to provide the latest goodies.
To say that Sprint’s Nexus is behind its GSM and Verizon counterparts is a bit of an understatement, but things are improving. Last August, Google posted the Jelly Bean binaries for Sprint’s Galaxy Nexus on its website. Now, the Nexus phone is finally getting its first ever factory image uploaded.
The posted factory image is the Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean build (FH05) for the toroplus device.
Having a factory image is like having a safety net around when you’re about to make your first attempt at trapeze. It’s pretty hard to brick your phone when you own a Nexus, but never say never and all that. Should something go wrong, you can easily “return the device to its factory state”. It’ll also give developers more materials to work on.
