Just a few hours ago we showed you another Galaxy S4 rumor that claimed the handset will be unveiled on March 14 at a special event in New York. A day earlier than what the last report said, but at least the U.S. location appeared to stay in place.
Now we have a new report originating from The Verge that confirms the announcement date, although it doesn’t confirm the location:
The Verge has now confirmed with sources familiar with Samsung’s plans that March 14th is “definitely” the day that the Korean giant plans on revealing one or more new devices, one of which is presumed to be the Galaxy S IV.Did we need extra confirmation? It’s great that we got it, but let’s not forget that HTC has a very important mobile event tomorrow so we shouldn’t be surprised to see leaks from the competitions appear – and get confirmed – these days.
Previous rumors said that internally-dubbed Project J family of products is comprised of three products, all of which could be unveiled at the same time, the Galaxy S4, the Galaxy S4 mini and maybe even a Galaxy Watch smartwatch (for lack of a better name, that’s what we’re calling it for now).
The Verge says it’s possible to see more devices at the March 14 event, although it doesn’t name any other Galaxy-branded upcoming products. Moreover, U.S. carrier availability for the Galaxy S4 may not be made public during the event, although we expect the handset to hit a variety of North American carriers just like its predecessors did.
Interestingly, the publication says that the Galaxy S4 – which hasn’t been leaked to the press yet although we did see plenty of mockups to date – may look similar to the Galaxy Note 8, Samsung’s 8-inch response to Apple’s iPad mini. And it looks like that early Galaxy Note 8 leak that we saw a few days ago was an early design, so the tablet will look different when Samsung presents it to the world at MWC 2013 next week.
