Most major carriers in the U.S. have revealed all of their plans to release the Samsung Galaxy S4, but Verizon hasn’t said much on the matter until now. The carrier announced that it would begin taking pre-orders for the device starting on April 25, and according to Ken Muche, a PR rep for Big Red, the device will be in stores starting on May 30, just as previously rumored.
The 16GB model of the Galaxy S4 costs $199.99 on a new two-year pact with the carrier after a $50 mail-in-rebate. Alternatively, the device will cost $649.99 off-contract, which is a tad pricey, but is worth noting for those that want to keep their grandfathered unlimited data plans. We’ll hopefully see pricing for larger storage options when the device goes up for pre-order tomorrow.
This news comes right after T-Mobile and Sprint have delayed their original launch dates for the device due to inventory problems. However, the delay isn’t that long, as T-Mobile expects to begin selling the phone online on April 29 and Sprint will have the Galaxy S4 available online two days before.
The Galaxy S4 supports a 4.99-inch Super AMOLED 1920 x 1080 Full HD display with 441ppi. It has a 1.9GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor, 2GB of RAM, a 13MP rear-facing shooter, a 2MP front-facing camera and has a microSD slot with support for up to 64GB of expandable storage. Samsung’s latest flagship offering comes in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB models, although it’s just the 16GB version that’s available for pre-order at this time from carriers and other retailers.
