Google today announced at its Google IO conference that Android has reached 900 million activations, which is a drastic increase from the 500 million last year.
The search giant also revealed that there were 48 billion application installs on the Play Store. Hugo Barra, vice president of Android product management at Google, even said that revenue per user is 2.5 times than what it was a year ago, globally. That's huge!
Keep in mind that the search giant only counts one activation per device regardless of how many times the device has been flashed with a ROM or passed onto another person. The Mountain View-based company doesn't even count devices that aren't running Google services, which means Amazon's popular Kindle Fire lineup isn't even included in the numbers.
It's only a little while now before Android hits one billion activations.
