With the launch of the Nexus 7 tablet, came the precise decision for development, software engeering, and stability. So by now, your Nexus 7 should be running pretty spiffy, without the need for an update.
However, there was quite an interesting message on the Nexus 7 today, displaying a small, 859kb software update. Now right off of the bat you can tell with such a small file size, it is not a “life or death” update.
Infact, over at TalkAndroid it was quite difficult to pursue the question of, “what did this do?”. But with a little digging, they found out that it simply added more information to the “About” section on the device. Now displayed are the “IC, model number, and the FCC ID”.
This small update did not change the current system version of 4.1.1. Like always, this installation probably tweaked some data to make the Nexus 7 to run as smooth as possible, but wasn’t it already doing so? Nevertheless, it is nice to see some “attention” to Google’s new, flagship device.
