We all knew it was coming sometime. Conclusions of the “Samsung vs. Apple” case are continuing to take effect, now with Verizon. In case you have not been keeping up on what’s happened over the past couple of weeks, Apple has essentially sued Samsung over a variety of “non-problematic” things, and has made it so, Samsung, can no longer use the unified search feature in there smartphones.

Since Apple “allegedly” has a patent on all existence, a recent update has been rolled out to Galaxy S III users on the Verizon network. This update, named VRLG1, basically rids the use of “unified search”, which is the function to navigate through files and media on your phone, with the addition of web functionality and voice commands.

Alongside that “burden of bad news”, the kernel for the Verizon S III has also been updated. According to Droid-Life, these changes have already been taking effect on devices, and in fact, will already be on phones you purchase at the store “today”, as well as replacement phones through your insurance plan.

Even though this is obviously a cheap shot by Apple, what do you think of the search functionality changes in the recent update? Will this make your average day difficult? I would love to hear your comments.
