Six months after it was first announced, the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 has been officially launched today. The device went through too many changes and false launches, but finally today Samsung has revealed the official specs of the Note 10.1, as well as an approximate release date.
The Galaxy Note 10.1 will be available starting this month globally, in three versions: Wi-Fi only, Wi-Fi plus HSPA+, and a Wi-Fi plus LTE version that will arrive a bit later in the year. While Samsung has failed to provide clear market breakdowns or pricing details, we expect that the price will be lower than the hefty $750 that online retailer Negri Electronics is asking for it. $400-$500 is more realistic, considering the competition and the general downward trend of the Android tablet market.
The Galaxy Note 10.1 will come with some fine specs, including a quad-core processor clocked at 1.4 GHz (same as the Galaxy S3) and 2GB of RAM. The most distinctive feature of the Note 10.1 is the S Pen stylus, which promises to turn the tablet into a capable digitizer. Users will be able to practice their talents on a 10.1-inch display running at 1280×800. Some have hoped for a more generous pixel count, but it appears that the Exynos 4 Quad chip inside the Note 10.1 can only drive displays of up to 1366 x 768. We’ll have to wait for Exynos 5 with T604 GPUs to enjoy higher resolutions.
