So we’ve seen the new, improved Kindle Fire that’s selling for $159, and we’ve seen the 7-inch and 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD tablets that will be shipping in mid-September and November, respectively. What else did Amazon announced during its recently ended California-based event? A 4G LTE Kindle HD model that’s certainly going to be very interesting to tablet buyers that don’t want to get stuck with Wi-Fi-only versions.
The 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD 4G LTE – yes, that’s the name of the device – will feature the same basic specs and features that the regular 8.9-inch model has to offer. But, as expected, this special Kindle Fire HD 4G LTE will also include a few special tricks up its sleeve on top of the characteristics of the Wi-Fi version:
- Amazon-designed 2.2mm thick LTE antenna
- 4G LTE connectivity
- 32GB of storage
But we have more news for you! Amazon decided a Kindle Fire version with wireless connectivity is not enough for its customers. The company has also announced a special Amazon 4G LTE Package that will cost $49.99 per year. For that price, Amazon customers that buy the LTE tablet will get 4G LTE support, 250MB of monthly traffic (3GB of yearly traffic), 20GB of cloud storage and $10 Amazon Appstore credit. Not a bad deal if you want to experience some very cheap 4G LTE connectivity on a device geared towards content-consumption – although that 250MB of monthly allowance may not be good enough for you, and there’s no telling what happens after that cap is reached.
Any takers?
