Although very many of us had expected to see limited supply issues on the heels of the Nexus 4’s release, there were but a handful of people that predicted the snafu would be extended way until the holiday season.

Still, here we are, a full month and a half after the initial launch, and LG and Google’s awesome 4.7-incher is still one tough cookie to track down. In fact, those unlucky guys and gals that haven’t yet gotten their grubby hands on a Nexus 4 and are still excited about it have only three moves right now, none of which is very pleasant.
You can A. keep an eye on Google’s Play Store, refresh it frantically and pray to God you’ll be in the right place at the right time when stocks are refilled, B. keep in close touch with T-Mobile, again pray and hope for the best and be willing to sign up to a new carrier agreement, or C. go over to eBay and pay as much as 1,000 bucks for a $300 phone. Not to mention that some of you, living outside of the US or UK, don’t even have the option to go through a carrier.
Nexus Availability
Now you might be waiting for that magic solution of procuring a precious little Nexus 4. Sorry to bum you out, but we don’t have it. What we do have however is a nifty little app that can make the waiting more bearable and that plan A from above a bit more humane.
Nexus Availability Checker is the name of this new app and it’s as simple as it is useful, allowing you to automatically check the availability of all Nexus devices in your country, including the 4.7-incher from LG.
The app sends you notifications whenever something happens with your desired device, be it the Nexus 4, 7 or 10. You can then get the edge over the “competition”, quickly check out the device’s price in your local currency and even dive right in the Play Store and get your order in. You can of course manually set how often you want the app to make its rounds or leave it to the default one-hour checking.
I don’t know about you, but I think Julien Vermet’s free app is a must have for anyone still sniffing around for the Nexus 4. That is if you don’t like the alternatives: the dedicated websites like n4checker.com, or the keeping an eye on Android Authority day in and day out – after all, we do eat, sleep and breathe Android.
