There has been a steady stream of Android-flavored 5-inch handset announcements in India this year, and it doesn’t look like it’s going to stop any time soon. The latest supersized model to join the club is called the Spice Stellar Pinnacle Mi-530, and its highlight features include a 5.3-inch qHD screen, dual-SIM support, and a 5-megapixel front facing camera that’s billed as making it the first of its kind — at least in India. While it isn’t the first model in the world to feature a 5MP self-portrait snapper, it’s definitely helping to spread this seemingly ongoing trend.
Now if you think that the 5MP front cam is all that the Spice Stellar Pinnacle Mi-530 has going for it, think again. It has a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and a beefy 2,550mAh battery. The phone’s display uses an IPS panel and its default operating system is Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. And did we mention that the Mi-530 also comes with an 8-megapixel rear camera for taking those all-important InstaFaceTube shots? Yes, it’s that versatile.
Speaking of which, it has a number of nifty software features to make up for the fact it comes pre-loaded with ICS instead of the latest version of its OS. These include Pop-up play, Flip to Mute, Hi-Connect, and Boot Acceleration. There’s no word on whether an Android 4.2 Jelly Bean upgrade will ever become available for it, but if it got your attention with its current configuration, then perhaps you’d like to know that it’s available now for only Rs 13,999 or about $260
