It looks like quite a few lucky Sprint subscribers are about to see LTE service finally come to their local market on April 12th, at least if an alleged internal memo turns out to be the real deal.
The news of the upcoming Sprint network expansion was first reported on by Phone Arena, who received the memo from a inside source. In the memo, a total of 21 markets are listed including Los Angeles, Norfolk and Memphis.
Here’s the full list of markets mentioned in the internal document:
- California: Los Angeles, Contra Costa County
- Florida: Palm Bay, Port St. Lucie, West Palm Beach
- Indiana: Bloomington and Lafayette
- Illinois: Rochelle
- Minnesota: Mankato-North Mankato
- Missouri: Joplin
- North Carolina: Charlotte, Shelby, Albemarle, Sailsbury, Lincolnton
- Tennessee: Memphis, Greenville, Tullahoma
- Texas: Denison, Kerrville
- Virginia: Norfolk-Virginia Beach-Newport News
Sprint has yet to confirm or deny whether or not the memo’s lists of cities is accurate or not. It is worth mentioning that the Now Network has taken to its community forums to let folks in Los Angeles know that at least parts of the 4G LTE network have been turned on as they continue to test 4G LTE connectivity in anticipation of an official launch.
Sprint even welcomes subscribers in Los Angeles to report on their experiences with the network’s 4G LTE connections on Twitter, using the #Discover4GLA hashtag.
