We don’t usually like to play favorites, but if we were to choose between Google Play and Amazon’s Appstore, we would go for Android’s primary source of apps anytime.
Still, it’s always nice to have alternatives and competition and we have to hand it to Amazon – they’ve done a really good job with their app store in just a year and a half to make it the second most popular on its niche.
But you can’t achieve what Amazon achieved in such a short window of time without cutting some corners, and unfortunately that has given birth to a number of major bugs in Appstore.
One such critical glitch was causing Android 4.2 users unexpected account log offs, forcing them not only to log in again, but also assigning each connecting to a different device despite it happening from the same over and over again.
Fortunately, that’s all in the past now, as Amazon has issued a patch fixing not only this glitch, but a number of others too. The update to the Appstore should be live and should have already hit all of your devices OTA (over-the-air), but if you’re yet to receive a notification, you should dive in Settings – Version and Release Notes and check for the fix there.
Some users are reporting that it might all go down better if you just uninstall the Appstore and then re-download the app from Amazon, but that’s entirely up to you.
Aside from this specific bug fix, the update should also patch an old battery drain glitch while adding the option to remove apps from the My Apps screen easier. A few minor UI tweaks have also been operated, but you might as well not even notice those.
