If you’ve got a Samsung Galaxy Camera, but find yourself squirming knowing that there are certain things that you just can’t do, you may be in luck, as some intrepid folks over at XDA Developers have rooted the device, and it seems fairly easy to do.

To root your Samsung Galaxy Camera, you’re going to need a few things: a Windows computer, the recovery and cache to flash, the Odin tool, specifically version 1.85, and Jelly Bean 4.1.1 build GC100XXALK1. Luckily, all these are provided, along with instructions, at the XDA Developers Forum link in the sources at the bottom of the article.
According to the forum post on XDA Developers, this  ”cannot hurt your device because full recovery is simply a 1.1gig Odin flash away.” Still, as with any root, be sure to read the instructions a few times and be sure you know what you’re doing. If you have any doubts, double check. It’s better to take more time to prepare than it is to end up with a device that doesn’t work properly, even if you can restore it to its original condition in this case.
That said, the process seems fairly simple and straightforward, and all the downloads and instructions are laid out in one place. If you’ve been itching to root your Samsung Galaxy Camera, now may be the time.
Are you interested in rooting your Samsung Galaxy Camera? Have you done so already? Was the process fairly painless? Let us know in the comments below.
