Users of Google TV have two reasons to be excited about an upcoming update, but unfortunately, the full update won’t be coming to first generation devices.
According to an entry today on the Official Google TV Blog, an upcoming update to Google TV will add Voice Search as well as a updated guide feature, now called PrimeTime.
Voice Search is a brand new feature to Google TV, allowing users to control features just by speaking. Google searches, opening apps, navigating to websites, and browsing channels can all be controlled this way. Users can also simply say the name of a show they’d like to watch to see all the available options to watch it.
PrimeTime isn’t as new, as it’s an update to the TV & Movies app that Google TV added in an update last year. The newly updated app essentially allows Google TV devices to work more like other set top boxes, allowing users to browse live TV, see recently watched shows, and access favorite channels.

Are you a Google TV user? Which of the two upcoming updates are you looking forward to more: Voice Search or PrimeTime? Or are you using a first generation device and left out in the cold when it comes to the update?
