The GoPro app has finally launched for Android. The app is available for free by way of Google Play and brings support for devices running 2.2 Froyo or later. That being said, while the app will run on older devices, it was noted that it will be better served with newer devices running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich or later.
The GoPro app did arrive with the features and functionality that you would have hoped for. In other words, the GoPro app will allow the user to control the camera remotely. This includes full control of all camera settings as well as remote viewfinder/preview on your Android device for easier shot framing.
In terms of device support, at the moment the GoPro app only supports the Wi-Fi BacPac-enabled HD HERO2 cameras. Looking forward though, GoPro has promised support for the HERO3: Black Edition in December and the HERO3: White & Silver Edition later in the month of November. Finally, the GoPro app is not compatible with the Original HD HERO.
