As great as Sony’s latest flagship smartphone is, more attention needs to be given to its slightly less impressive, nearly identical twin brother, the Sony Xperia ZL. Its biggest difference from the Xperia Z is the fact that it does not come in a waterproof case, but the rest of it is still pretty magnificent. And now, those who would like to enjoy its magnificence firsthand can finally get to do so, at least out in Russia, where it has become available first through the official Sony online store.
The Sony Xperia ZL was first reported to be on its way to Russia back in the last week of February. That report turned out to be spot on, and what’s more, the predicted price turned out to be correct as well.
Sony’s online store in Russia has posted the Xperia ZL up for sale for 27,490 rubles, which equates to just about $896 USD or €688. That’s more than a tad expensive, even for a high-end smartphone. But remember that gadgets often cost much more in Russia compared with some parts of Europe, as Vlad Bobleanta of Unwired View points out.
Considering that the Xperia ZL rocks a gorgeous 1080p HD 5-inch screen, runs on a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, and features a 13-megapixel camera with the new Sony Exmor RS sensor, it won’t be hard to believe that anyone would look at its price tag and exclaim, “it’s worth it.”
